The population of twelve villages and hamlets has been engaged in olive growingand agriculture for centuries. Many houses still have old olive mills. In the villageof Mrkovi, you will see a tower that served to hide the population from the pirateinvasion. The people of Luštica were also skilled sailors. Visit the village of Zambelići andthe birthplace of the famous Chilean captain Petar Zambelić. Feel free to knockon the door of the hospitable locals and hear their stories… Luštica, popularly known as the “small Mount Athos” is recognizable by 22churches, the oldest of which was built more than 1000 years ago.
