Fortresses Kabala and Luštica are twins in terms of architecture and position. They are dug in a rock, along the shore at the entrance of the Bay of Kotor. Today, fortress Kabala offers visitors an adventure within its walls, and fortress Luštica outside them, so we suggest you to explore them at the same time. There was a barracks on the first two floors of Kabala, together with a kitchen, warehouses and rooms for the army. The combat part with artillery, mortars and howitzers, was placed on an open roof platform. In a place where gun carriages used to be, today huge agaves grow, contributing to the impression left by the fortress – that this place is a scenography from one of the anti-war or obscure movies. You will find out interesting facts on a tourist board in front of the fortress– why the Bay of Kotor is the key of the Strait of Otranto and why it was connected to Europe by rail at the beginning of the 20th century.
