Earlychristianity basilica „Cim“

Fort-Net

The early Christian basilica in Cim belongs to the type of Bosnian-Herzegovinian basilicas of a more complex type. It has one central nave (nave) and ends with three semicircular apses on the east side. South of the church, a memorial was made - a tomb of much smaller dimensions but with a similar floor plan. The church also consists of a narthex that is sewn along its entire length on the west, a baptistery or baptistery with an elliptical pool on the north side, and other auxiliary rooms (deacon and protest) on the south side. The total width of the basilica is 15 m, and the length is 24, 80 m. The outer walls are supported by a series of 23 buttresses that have the technical function of ensuring better stability but also an aesthetic effect.

During archeological excavations led by Tomislav Anđelić, a number of buried graves were found in and around the basilica. In addition, based on the monumentality of the building, rich stone furniture with typical early Christian reliefs, and additionally found relics, the author of the research connects this site with the center of the Diocese of Sarsenter. The site is active in the period from 4.-6. c.
