Jankov vrh Fortress

Fort-Net

After a few kilometers of walking over the beaten and marked paths through the dense deciduous forest of Krivošije, you will reach an extremely sensitive point in the defense of the former Austro-Hungarian border with the Kingdom of Montenegro. There was the first line of defense, together with the fortresses of Janko’s peak – Ost, West and the battery between them. Today, two multi-storey buildings with artillery platforms can be recognized among the remains of the fortifications. The fortresses were built after 1875, the year when the Emperor Franz Joseph I visited Krivošije. The story of this event is on a tourist board, describing the customs of the people of Krivošije, according to which they welcomed and saw off this unusual guest.
