Out of the defense system in the Bay of Kotor, near the sea, five mighty fotresses have been preserved– Goražda, Vrmac, Grabovac, Kabala and Luštica. They are worth visiting because of the unforgettable adventure of exploring abandoned fortresses and the unique experience of time at the turn of century, described on the illustrative boards next to the fortifications. Traveling and visiting the most famous and remote places of the Bay of Kotor – from Kotor, Tivat and Luštica, provides a complete experience for all the senses.
Armored fortress Vrmac
Next to one of the most important fortresses of the Boka system, in the middle of the forest above Kotor, discover the historical story of the relations between Montenegro and Austria-Hungary. Find out why Lovćen is the most important point in the defense of Boka and Otranto.
Armored fortress Goražda
You will discover the labyrinths of the fortress and enjoy the view from its top. You will learn more about its significance and the complex system of the Boka Belt Fortresses.
Armored fortress Grabovac
At the point where the view of the Bay of Tivat and the open sea of the Adriatic meets, the theme is powerful artillery used in fortifications.
Fortress Kabala
On the site of a pure adventure in an abandoned fortress, you will learn why the Bay of Kotor is the key of the Strait of Otranto and why it was connected by rail to the rest of Europe at the beginning of the 20th century.
Fortress Luštica
Enjoy the ambience of the remains of the fortress, as from the adventure movies about Indiana Jones and learn the story of the legendary sailors’ uprising in Boka in 1918.
