Even today, fortress Goražda arouses admiration, due to the skill and precision of its builders, and due to the skill of the architects to create a monumental and functional whole, in complete harmony with the natural environment. Together with fortress Vrmac, it formed a backbone of Lovćen defense line. The significance of fortress Goražda in the defense of the coast will be clear to you when you look at the width and depth of the Bay of Kotor from its roof (which can be easily reached by internal stairs). More about this, as well as about the unique system of the Boka Belt Fortresses, is told on a tourist board next to the entrance. Fortress Goražda was one of the most modern fortresses of that time. Only fortresses Dvrsnik in Krivošije and Strač near Trebinje were more modern. That is the reason why you must visit it during your historical adventure of discovering the Austro-Hungarian defense system of the southern border of the empire.
